The quickest check list, ever, for painting like a professional

      1. Test your colours first, as shades do vary in different lights

      2. Make good all surfaces first by repairing any cracks and scrape off any wallpaper

      3. Use different brushes for different paints to avoid mixing colours, unless that is one's intentions

      4. To avoid cleaning out your paint tray when swapping colours, try lining it with foil or a plastic bag

      5. For best results, paint ceiling first, followed by the walls, then the woodwork and finally skirting board

      6. Hold a piece of card under the brush when painting skirting boards to prevent it picking up fluff off the floor

      7. Wrap brushes up well in cling film to stop them drying out in between breaks
